Have you heard of The Everygirl? It's a blog of sorts for women. It's about a whole bunch of stuff: Career, Finance, Dating, Fashion, etc. I read it mostly for career inspiration. I've read just about every interview in their career section. I'm usually curious to find out how people got into their particular area and what the journey looks like from inception to success.
Sometimes ( most times) while reading the interviews I get inspired but other times I get overwhelmed like, "how do I do that?". After reading interviews on the site, doing some self-reflecting, praying and talking with friends, I think I have a more solid idea of what I should be doing with my life, time and talents. It's funny that you can be looking everywhere for something that is right in front of your face. For example; as a child I was very curious, moved at my own pace, questioned EVERYTHING (still kinda do...) and loved all things creative. I was into crafts, sewing, baking, writing music, painting/drawing, you name it. As a kid I just KNEW I would be a fashion designer ( where are my old barbie doll clothes I designed?), then a lawyer, concert pianist, interior designer and on and on. While I will probably not be any of those things, I've come to the realization that I can take elements of all of my interests/talents and incorporate them into something big or keep them separate and develop them that way. By doing this, I won't have to sacrifice the creative part of me.
I've come to terms with the fact that being creative is part of who I am and to create is necessary for my well-being. There's a certain freedom in realizing that I don't have to choose one thing and forever be in a box. What a relief!

In today's society, the concept of one career in a lifetime seems to be obsolete. My career counselor told me that I would have to create my own job because it certainly wouldn't come looking for me. She told me that 2 years ago and I can see as plain as day that she was right. Lately, I have been seeing quotes like: "be fearless" or " tackle your fears" or "live your dreams!", etc., but honestly, it can get REALLY scary moving into new territory. I'm on my way though. I'm making moves, figuring out how to conquer fears and crying and laughing (sometimes at the same time I might add!) all while moving forward. I'm hopeful in general and sooner than later, I plan on sharing some of my progress with you guys.
For those of you out there still struggling with fears and doubts, inaction, indecisiveness and/or generally disliking where you are right now- keep your chin up!! You have more control over what you should be doing with your life than you think. Take some time to really think, reflect, pray and write things down. Make an action plan. START on your plan! If it is not working out, rework your plan or turn A into a plan B and so on. Just DON'T stop moving. Be encouraged and go get your life back!
